                                   Getting To Know Me

When it comes down to writing I find that the more interested I am in a topic the stronger my supplement is and the easier it is for me to write. If I were to rate myself as a writer I would say I am a B level writer, I say this because I feel that everyone has room to progress as a writer. I have strong points and am able to make sense out of what I am writing about but there is room to make corrections and therefore I would not say that I am at the A level yet, although after revisions I am able to make it to an A level. When I write I find that I just sit down and see what comes to me and let it flow, unless it is a research essay then I try to make an outline to organize my quotes. When looking back on my writing experience so far I think very positively, I have always done well in Language Arts classes and have always enjoyed writing. For this course I hope I can improve my writing when it comes to analyzing books, I don’t mind reading but I sometimes do have difficulty trying to look deeper and beyond the text so I hope this class can help me with that.
As a kid I’ve always played sports, from tennis to field hockey. I played Lacrosse since 9th grade and I enjoyed it so much that I was even recruited to play lacrosse here at Fairleigh Dickinson, unfortunately I get terrible migraines that I am not cleared to play lacrosse anymore. But, by not playing sports I am able to do more things that I am really interested in such as baking, yoga, and working. I truly do love working, with my family owning 3 bagel stores and opening a fourth I am constantly helping them out but I love it. I am super into social media such as Twitter, Snapchat, and Instagram where I spend a decent amount of time on everyday. When looking at the bagel stores I use social media as a huge marketing outlet, posting photos and videos on Instagram to allow customers to be engaged not just on our final products but also on the steps that it takes to get there. As for down time I don’t read often, but when it comes to a book I truly like I can speed through it. I find that in the summer while on the beach or on vacation I am more likely to read, and this summer while down the shore I was able to read 3 different books over the course of a month and a half; reading ‘If I stay’, ‘Where She Went’ and ‘The Girl On The Train’. I really enjoy mystery books that keep me entertained from start to finish
.
A hero to me is someone who never gives up, someone who constantly is pushing themselves to better and be better not only for themselves but for others as well. For example, when looking at my dad he came to America from Lebanon with no money in his pocket and never giving up allowing him to create something he is proud of. My admire my parents so much that it is hard for me to lie to them, mainly because I am awful at lying. But when looking at my siblings it is a little easier for me to lie, although one of the most ridiculous lies I have ever told was probably to my sister when I tried convincing her that the sunglasses I wore out she gave me even though they were brand new and she just got them the week before. And I kept telling her that the ones I was wearing were different and she gave them to me, but of course that failed and I was yelled at by my parents and sister. It didn’t stop me from taking her stuff, but it did stop me from lying about it.

Looking back I think the last time I failed at something was probably when I decided to learn to surf over the summer and extremely wiped out. I learned that surfing is not for everyone, but also to not stop trying. I feel that if I just tried again instead of letting that be the last time I surf I would actually get the hang of it and maybe even be decent at it. But will I go again? Probably not...

So that's me, until next time. Byeeee

  1. Thank you for sharing your ideas Jannah. I, too, want to learn how to surf. I think it would be fun. From what I hear, it is a great workout too.

Your use of images enhances your writing. I look forward to working with you this semester.
